Music Tuesdays: UK Artists Continue to Bring It

I’ve been rather bored at the office lately, which means I’ve been listening to a lot of music. My latest fave is Emeli Sande.

Emeli Sande

Emeli is a Scottish R&B singer, and she’s soooo good! Check out her “My Kind of Love” below.

I am absolutely IN LOVE with this song! I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve listened to it. It definitely needs to be on the radio here in the states. Sigh…

FUN FACT: Emeli’s first name is Adele – I wonder why she doesn’t go by that…lol

Rebecca Ferguson

Another UK artist that is catching my attention is Rebecca Ferguson. Rebecca appeared on the UK’s X Factor a couple of years ago, competing against famous youngsters One Direction and Cher Lloyd. Although I didn’t care for Rebecca on the show, she has started to grow on me. Watch her video for “Too Good To Lose” now!

So simple, yet so much fun!

If you like “Too Good To Lose,” then you should definitely check out Rebecca’s other single “Teach Me How To Be Loved.”

#Beautiful

I am just so thankful that the UK continues to promote its best talents. I’m still waiting for America to do the same. I guess I’ll just have to settle for Nicki Minaj…Side eye.

Hot Mess Mondays: Hannah Montana and Her Bong

Good morning everyone! As always, I hope that you all had wonderful weekends, and are ready for the big week ahead. I know I am, especially since next Sunday I will be home for the holidays. Woot! Woot! Anyways, let’s get to the Hot Mess countdown, shall we?

1) Miley Cyrus for getting caught with a bong, and people for making a big deal out of it.

Last Friday, a video was released showing Miley Cyrus smoking out of a bong. Since then, sales for the drug Salvia have tripled according to reports. Now, the media and lawmakers are having a field day. Honestly, now that I am older, I don’t find certain drugs to be that big of a deal. For example, many people have smoked/smoke marijuana, and lead wonderful productive lives. Of course there are always some individuals, who get addicted to the feeling of the drug, but the same can be said of alcoholics, and alcohol is not illegal. Although I think it was stupid for Miley Cyrus to allow anyone to record her with a bong, I am not about to condemn her. Plus, if she was smoking Salvia, that drug is legal in California as well as in other states. All I have to say is that maybe parents should focus on teaching their children to not have role models (celebrity or not) and to be their own individuals. By now, everyone knows that role models ALWAYS $%^& up.

Moving on…

2) The UK for never choosing the right winner.

Even though The X Factor does not come on in the states, I have been following the UK version of the show online. Over the past few weeks, I have uploaded videos of my favorite contestants, one of them being 17 year old Cher Lloyd. Cher made it all the way to the final after a controversial sing off before being voted out on Saturday evening. Last night, it was announced that Matt Cardle was The X Factor champ. Now, I love Matt a lot. I think he’s the most precious thing ever with a very unique voice, but should he have won The X Factor? That’s debatable. Personally, after Cher was kicked off, I was hoping that Rebecca Ferguson would win. In my opinion, both her and Cher have the most international appeal. Whatever…

Congratulations to Matt! πŸ™‚ lol

*And just for fun, here’s a video of Rebecca Ferguson singing on the final show.

Get it Rebecca! I love that she’s so shy. πŸ™‚

3) Will.i.am for being a terrible performer.

On the first night ofΒ  The X Factor final, Will.i.am performed with Cher. Although Cher came out with a lot of energy and charisma, Will.i.am had none. I’ve seen the Black Eyed Peas perform multiple times on television, and have never been impressed. Fergie was a better performer as a solo act. Regardless of Will.i.am., Cher’s performance was not her best. With that said, he totally made it 10 times worse. Check out the performance below.

Hmmm….or maybe I just don’t like their voices together….Whatever. lol

4) Diddy for being selfish.

I’m sorry, but I thought when this group was first created their name was Dirty Money, not Diddy-Dirty Money. If you’ve caught any of the advertisements promoting the trio’s new album, Last Train to Paris, which will be released tomorrow, then you’ve probably noticed the hip hop mogul’s name front and center. I love Diddy, but he needs to learn to be a team player. I just feel bad for Dawn and Kalenna, who continue to take a backseat in the group. Dawn went from being one of the lead singers in Danity Kane to Diddy’s wallpaper. Shame.

5) Rapper Ja Rule for just being a mess.

DoΒ  you all remember Ja Rule? Yeah, I barely do either despite being in love with him in middle school. What was I thinking? lol Anyways, the rapper hasn’t had much of a rapping career in years, but he’s about to get some street cred. After being charged with illegal weapons possession, Mr. Rule will be serving a two year prison sentence starting in February. At least T.I. is serving time, and still relevant…Hot mess.

Side note: If I was important enough to be on this list, I, too, would’ve been mentioned today. I have failed at the blogging consistency. So, I will try not to be a hot mess this week, and give you guys a post every single day as originally promised.

p.s. Thanks for reading everyone! If you like this post and others, then remember to share them with friends! πŸ˜‰

Music Tuesdays: It’s A Phenomenon

Everyone is whippin they hairs!

Willow Smith

Yesterday, Willow Smith’s music video for “Whip My Hair” was FINALLY released on Vevo. And, I must say. I 100% approve. The video has a very youthful feel, and Willow is surrounded by kids just like herself. Not to mention, Willow shows that she’s got a lot of attitude, which everyone knows is the necessary key to super stardom. But honestly, it’s not like Willow Smith needs to be schooled on how to become a superstar. Look at her parents and brother. Even Trey, the eldest Smith son, is a star, and he’s not even in the public eye. Anyways, I think Willow Smith and her song are refreshing and fun.

If you’re late and haven’t seen the video, click here —> Whip My Hair

I see you Jaden with all that hair! lol

Side note: I wasn’t going to bring up this little argument. With that said, it saddens me that Ciara’s music video for “Gimmie Dat” hasn’t mustered up that many YouTube views, considering that it came out last week. After only one day, Willow Smith’s already has half the views of Ciara’s. Not to mention, Rihanna’s “Only Girl In The World” has over 2 million, and premiered after “Gimmie Dat.”

Now, I know that Rihanna appeals more to the masses than Ciara, but Ciara works her butt off in “Gimmie Dat.” Let us just hope that the songbird’s album doesn’t flop again…

**Cop Ciara’s album, Basic Instinct, on November 29th. πŸ˜‰

Bruno Mars

As for the newer artists, it looks like Bruno Mars’ Doo-wops and Hooligans debuted at #3 on Billboard. Although 3 is good, I guess I was expecting the young R&B/Pop singer to do a bit better. Needless to say, it was country singer Toby Keith’s album, Bullets in the Gun, that debuted at numero uno. Even though I like country music, I kind of forget about that little stretch of land in between the west and east coasts that loves them some country music. lol

Anyways, here’s the third released single off of Mars’ album.

Bruno Mars – “The Lazy Song”

It’s cute. I don’t know if it’s a hit, but it’s cute. We’ll see. πŸ™‚

And, to finish off today’s post, I wanted to highlight my favorite latest X Factor performances.

First up is Rebecca Ferguson’s “Feeling Good.”

I love that Rebecca is a diva, but she better watch out because there are several divas on the show this season, including Tracy Cohen. Here’s Tracy singing “Purple Rain.”

Although I love the divas this season, I must admit that I have a soft spot for Matt Curdle. Matt’s a late twenty- something-year-old, who classified himself as a “bum” before beginning the show. However, Matt is absolutely adorable, and he has a very unique sound to his voice. He recently performed Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are,” and even though it’s not my fave performance from him, I still heart him. πŸ™‚

Check it out now!

The audience LOVED it. lol

Anyways, that’s enough X Factor. I really need X Factor to come to America. I know that Simon is working on it right now, but it’s taking forever! lol I’m tired of watching all of the good talent in the UK.

Music Tuesdays: Music & Performers To Look Out For

Music Tuesdays have got to be my favorite days to post because new music always brings me joy.

Let’s get it!

Bruno Mars

Recently, I have been reporting Bruno Mars’ Las Vegas arrest. However, it’s important for us not to forget just how talented this guy is. His single “Just The Way You Are,” has remained at the top of the charts, and now he has released “Grenade” as his second single. Take a listen!

Honestly, when I saw the title for this song, I immediately thought of Jersey Shore…And, I know that many of you know exactly what I am talking about. A mess…lol

Anyways, “Grenade” debuted at #81 on Billboard.Β  I’m sure that it will climb the Top 100 Hits list and fast. I like it. πŸ™‚

Katharine McPhee

Unlike Bruno, Katharine McPhee, a former runner up on American Idol, hasn’t been having as much success with her career. After American Idol, she scored a hit single with “Love Story,” but gradually disappeared from the limelight after her album didn’t perform well.

Nonetheless, Katharine is back with a new song and music video. The song is called “Say Goodbye” and is absolutely beautiful.

This is definitely a more mature sound from her that I’m really starting to appreciate. I didn’t like Katharine McPhee when she was on Idol, especially after she beat out Chris Daughtry. However, Daughtry has had much success with his band since the show, and there’s room for another former contestant in the music biz.

Katharine actually has been performing “Say Goodbye” for over a year even though the music video was only recently posted on YouTube . Here is one of her live performances on The Wendy Williams Show in March.

What do you think?

**Speaking of live performances, X Factor has officially started in the UK. There has already been an elimination of two performers from the Top 12.

Rebecca Ferguson

I must say that the UK definitely does have talent. OneΒ  of my favorite contestants on the show is Rebecca Ferguson. She is a mother of two, who had almost no confidence when she auditioned for X Factor. Each time Rebecca performs, however, she raises her head a little bit higher, and it’s great to watch.

Last week she delivered this performance of “Tear Drops”.

Rebecca’s such a diva, and doesn’t even realize her potential. I love it! πŸ˜‰

Cher Lloyd

As for my next favorite X Factor contestant, I have to say that I like Cher Lloyd. She had an incredible audition, singing the Keri Hilson version of “Turn My Swag On.” Yet, since her audition, Cher has been cracking some under the pressure from the show.

On the debut show of X Factor’s Top 12, Cher performed this number below.

This definitely wasn’t her best vocal performance. With that said, I like the attitude. Attitude is something that you can’t teach. And, let’s face it. A large percentage of what it takes to become a Popstar relies on attitude. πŸ˜‰

**Look out for next week’s Music Tuesday and share this post with your friends!
