Despicable Dynamite

Well, it looks like Despicable Me is the new box office king. Steve Carell’s feature took in a little over $56 million. Like I said before, the movie was even cuter than the trailers, so its success definitely doesn’t surprise me. Anyways, Predators took the number 3 spot behind Twilight Eclipse. Not too shabby for another one of “those movies.” I swear the Predator and Alien franchises will never die. lol

Side note: Toy Story 3 is still raking in the millions. The Pixar animated feature took in another $21 mil over the weekend. The Buzz is definitely back. Now, one has to wonder whether or not the Toy Story story is really over. Hollywood likes to reopen the doors when things continue to bring in a lot of money. With that said, I hope that Pixar does decide to just end with Toy Story 3. It would be incredibly sad if a sub-par Toy Story 4 was released. Let’s end on a positive note Pixar, si?

Anyways….

Because I like being totally random, here is Taio Cruz’s latest single “Dynamite.” If you haven’t heard this song, then I have no idea what you have been doing with your life…..Just kidding…kind of? lol

Taio Cruz stays bringing the hits. I must admit though. All of his music is just so much fun Fun FUN. You can’t help, but to sing along and smile when Taio Cruz comes on. “Dynamite” is currently numero 7 on the Billboard hot 100.

Now the question is – “Who’s better, Taio Cruz or Jason Derulo?” They both blew up around the same time and have both brought the hit dance tracks with them. Right now, I have to say Cruz is my absolute fave. If you haven’t listened to his Rokstarr album, then you need to check it out. Besides I only really like Jason Derulo when he goes “Jaaason Deruuuuuulo!” at the beginning of “In My Head.” You know what I’m talking about too, don’t you? lol 😉

And, for those of you who are still in the dark, I have provided Jason Derulo’s song for you, so that you will know EXACTLY what I am talking about. lol Enjoy!

I See You!

Tonight’s post is simply serving as a shout out to everyone, who has seen or will see success this week….

Toy Story 3

First up is Disney Pixar. As mentioned in my last post, Toy Story 3 debuted over the weekend, and boy, did it debut! The animated feature took in a whopping $109 mil. That is the highest grossing opener for any Pixar film. I’m not surprised. The movie was fantastic. Congrats to everyone who is a part of the Disney Pixar family! 🙂

Knight and Day

Hoping to steal some of Toy Story 3‘s thunder are Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Their long awaited Knight and Day will enter theaters this Wednesday. Apparently the film has sold out each of its sneak-preview screenings. Although it’s been reported that the film is receiving mediocre ratings from critics, only the box office can tell how popular Knight and Day will be with audiences. Personally, I’m just excited to see Cruise return in another action-filled role. Therefore, I will definitely be seeing this movie in theaters. Will you?

Billboard Success

As for the music industry, it looks like Katy Perry and Usher are still going strong. Katy continues to hold the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with “California Girls” as Usher’s “OMG” stays strong at #2. I knew these two songs would be hits from the very beginning. 🙂

Moving On…….

And because I have been shamelessly promoting X-tina’s new album Bionic, I figure I should leave you guys with another one of her newer tracks, “Prima Donna.” “Prima Donna” is definitely one of my faves on the album, if not THE fave after “Woohoo.” Enjoy!

What do you think? Can you hear it on the radio?

Toy Story 3: The Buzz Is Back

Yesterday, Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 3 debuted around the country to the excitement of many, including me. It seems like just the other day that I was watching the original Toy Story in theaters. Fortunately for me, Toy Story 3 continued the same feelings of joy and adventure that I experienced with its predecessor 14 years ago.

Beginning with the terrible reality that Andy, the toys’ owner, has grown up, Toy Story 3 immediately jumps into the ultimate fear of all toys, being thrown out. After a misunderstanding over what Andy wants to do with them and a failure by Woody (Andy’s favorite toy) to convince them to stay, Buzz, Jessie, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Hamm, Rex, Slinky Dog, Bullseye, and the three green aliens from Pizza Planet all agree to leave Andy and make Sunnyside Daycare their new home. Eventually, the toys realize that Sunnyside is not that sunny, and a dangerous adventure follows shortly after their arrival, leading to one of the most touching endings of any Pixar film.

Honestly, I was a little nervous about Toy Story 3. Toy Story 2 didn’t quite make my favorite movies of all time list…With that said, Toy Story 3 successfully brings back much of the charm of the original. Packed with new characters, including a flamboyant Ken doll and a bitter teddy bear, who smells of strawberries, Toy Story 3 makes anyone want a playroom filled with toys. The film is fun, funny, emotional, and most importantly, well written. If you haven’t seen Toy Story 3, please go do so. The film will have you laughing, and believe it or not almost crying.

Anyways, if I were a movie critic, I would give the film an overall 3 out of 5 stars.  The movie is not exactly an Oscar film and if you don’t see it, you won’t die….BUT, if you do see it, you are guaranteed to have fun Fun Fun!

Here’s a Toy Story 3 featurette that I found on YouTube.

Thank you Pixar for producing another quality feature! 🙂

p.s. Day and Night, the animated short at the beginning of the movie, is not bad either. Pixar always has the most creative stories.

**ALERT** You do NOT need to see Toy Story 3 in 3D. I know 3D seems cool an all, but I watched the movie on a regular screen and it was just fine. 3D just seems like another obvious moneymaker for Hollywood. So, save those extra dollars for another Avatar instead!
