Music Tuesdays: The Brits Are Taking Over

Remember this girl???

Cher Lloyd

Cher didn’t win X Factor two years ago, but she’s still managed to be a successful artist in the UK. Now, it’s time for Ms. Lloyd to make her mark on American radio. Check out her latest single below!

“Want U Back” was actually released months ago overseas. Nonetheless, I’m so happy that it’s finally reached stateside. It looks like Ms. Lloyd will be joining One Direction and The Wanted in taking over the U.S. At least I hope so… 😉

AND, just for kicks, here is one of my favorite Cher Lloyd performances on UK X Factor. Enjoy!

Why didn’t she win again? Side eye…

Music Tuesdays: Brandy And Monica Are Back!

I’m so happy to see these two collaborating again. Watch their new music video for “It All Belongs To Me” below!

For some reason, I just really like this song! It has a different sound to it.

What do you think?

True Thursdays: Old Usher Is Back!

Well kind of….

After all of the OMGs and DJs going around, Usher has finally decided to go back to his roots. His latest single “Climax” is the perfect  balance between R&B vocals and Pop beats. Take a listen!

At first, I wasn’t a fan of this song, but now it’s become a radio favorite. I like that Usher is actually “singing” again. This is definitely the Usher that I like. 🙂

Music Tuesdays: Nicki Minaj is NOT a Rapper. She’s a “Popstar.”

After hearing Nicki Minaj on David Guetta’s track, I started to like her again….UNTIL she released a music video for “Stupid Hoe” and performed “Roman” at the Grammys.

Fortunately, Minaj has decided to leave those tragedies behind (at least for now) and put out some more promising Pop music.

Honestly, I can no longer consider Nicki Minaj a rapper. She clearly wants to be Britney Spears and Lady Gaga with a Katy Perry wig. Sometimes I think the direction of her career is kind of sad. Instead of trying to be the best female rapper of all time, she’s turning into just another dance-track maker.

The song is cute though!

Moving on…

Another rapper releasing new music right now is B.o.B. I love B.o.B. He’s always had his own unique sound.

Listen to his new single “So Good” below!

I know that this song is about to have major airplay. People were already going crazy this morning.

p.s. Rihanna and Chris Brown’s “Birthday Cake” has hit the radio.

Hot Mess Mondays: Rihanna and Chris Hit The Studio

All I’m going to say is that Rihanna is making it very hard for people to hate Chris Brown, her ex-boo….

Let’s get it!

1) Rihanna for featuring Chris Brown on her single “Birthday Cake.”

Take a listen!

I’m not going to lie. I love the beat of this song! It’s so catchy! BUT, the lyrics are a bit vulgar….and I find it interesting that these two used this song to come back together. Definitely not sending the best message.

2) Chris Brown for featuring Rihanna on his single “Turn Up The Music.”

Check it out below!

Actually, Chris Brown’s pretty smart. His single is lighthearted and fun. As the main singer on this one, it’s good that he didn’t come up with something along the lines of “Birthday Cake.” Just wouldn’t be the best idea for HIS single…

Anyways, these two are going to be the only ones on this list today. Their singles have already sparked enough controversy to last months. I guess I’ll have to get used to the constant Chris Brown, Rihanna talks again.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. I don’t really care what these two do as long as they stay out of trouble and make good music. And quite frankly, why should I care?  These two have basically  given the middle finger to the world anyways. At the end of the day, what goes on between the two of them is private. However, domestic violence is a serious and should be acknowledged – I just refuse to continue bashing Chris Brown when I know a lot of those other heifers in the industry are probably doing the same thing…Side-eye.

True Thursdays: Katy and Nicki Are Overexposed

Both Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj have been having the year of their lives. They’ve literally been everywhere, and neither one of them is showing signs of slowing down.

I wasn’t a big Katy Perry fan until she released my jam, “Teenage Dream” back in 2010. Once that single came out, I was hooked. But now, all I want is for her to go away. Overexposure is a very real thing, and Ms. Perry has been overexposed. Unfortunately, I can’t get away from her music on the radio. Lord help me…

As for Nicki, I have never been 100% sold on this girl. Though some of her verses are good, a lot of them are questionable. When I hear her on the radio, I can’t even comprehend what’s coming out of her mouth. Does she even speak real words?

Maybe I’m being too harsh on these two. Nonetheless, I’m ready to hear and discover some NEW talent in 2012. 🙂

p.s. Listen to Nicki’s verse on this David Guetta song “Turn Me On.”

Nicki’s actually the one singing on this track, and she doesn’t sound that bad. If only she sang this good in real life….No, I have not forgotten her GMA performance. SMH. Oh, the wonders of autotune…haha

Music Tuesdays: Neon Hitch Anyone?

On my way to work, I heard one of the best club songs ever!…Okay, that might be somewhat of an exaggeration. Nonetheless, Neon Hitch’s “*^&% U Betta” is already on the top of my listening list for 2012.

Listen below!!

I know this song is beyond vulgar. I tried my best to find the radio edit version…With that said, this is the perfect song for any club/bar, especially for the ones in West Hollywood…;-)

Since “*&(^  U Betta” is doing the absolute most with its lyrics, here’s another song by Neon Hitch called “Get Over U.”

The video for “Get Over U” came out early last year.

Anyways, I really like the sound of her music, and her voice – Neon Hitch definitely makes Gym Class Heroes’ “*^$ Back Home” that much better.

p.s. I know that I keep using the most random symbols to express *&($ and *^&. I’m looking out for the kids! haha 😉
