Bonus: Swag

I don’t know whether or not you guys have been watching the U.S. version of X Factor, but Brian Bradley might be my fave contestant on the show. Although Brian does not sing, his performance in front of L.A. Reid and Rihanna is pure SWAG.

This is exactly why I prefer X Factor over broke down American Idol. Rappers get the chance to show their stuff, not just singers – Get it Brian! ๐Ÿ˜‰

There’s a lot of talent on this first season ofย X Factor. I wonder who will win in the end. Only time will tell….

Music Tuesdays: It’s A Phenomenon

Everyone is whippin they hairs!

Willow Smith

Yesterday, Willow Smith’s music video for “Whip My Hair” was FINALLY released on Vevo. And, I must say. I 100% approve. The video has a very youthful feel, and Willow is surrounded by kids just like herself. Not to mention, Willow shows that she’s got a lot of attitude, which everyone knows is the necessary key to super stardom. But honestly, it’s not like Willow Smith needs to be schooled on how to become a superstar. Look at her parents and brother. Even Trey, the eldest Smith son, is a star, and he’s not even in the public eye. Anyways, I think Willow Smith and her song are refreshing and fun.

If you’re late and haven’t seen the video, click here —> Whip My Hair

I see you Jaden with all that hair! lol

Side note: I wasn’t going to bring up this little argument. With that said, it saddens me that Ciara’s music video for “Gimmie Dat” hasn’t mustered up that many YouTube views, considering that it came out last week. After only one day, Willow Smith’s already has half the views of Ciara’s. Not to mention, Rihanna’s “Only Girl In The World” has over 2 million, and premiered after “Gimmie Dat.”

Now, I know that Rihanna appeals more to the masses than Ciara, but Ciara works her butt off in “Gimmie Dat.” Let us just hope that the songbird’s album doesn’t flop again…

**Cop Ciara’s album, Basic Instinct, on November 29th. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bruno Mars

As for the newer artists, it looks like Bruno Mars’ Doo-wops and Hooligans debuted at #3 on Billboard. Although 3 is good, I guess I was expecting the young R&B/Pop singer to do a bit better. Needless to say, it was country singer Toby Keith’s album, Bullets in the Gun, that debuted at numero uno. Even though I like country music, I kind of forget about that little stretch of land in between the west and east coasts that loves them some country music. lol

Anyways, here’s the third released single off of Mars’ album.

Bruno Mars – “The Lazy Song”

It’s cute. I don’t know if it’s a hit, but it’s cute. We’ll see. ๐Ÿ™‚

And, to finish off today’s post, I wanted to highlight my favorite latest X Factor performances.

First up is Rebecca Ferguson’s “Feeling Good.”

I love that Rebecca is a diva, but she better watch out because there are several divas on the show this season, including Tracy Cohen. Here’s Tracy singing “Purple Rain.”

Although I love the divas this season, I must admit that I have a soft spot for Matt Curdle. Matt’s a late twenty- something-year-old, who classified himself as a “bum” before beginning the show. However, Matt is absolutely adorable, and he has a very unique sound to his voice. He recently performed Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are,” and even though it’s not my fave performance from him, I still heart him. ๐Ÿ™‚

Check it out now!

The audience LOVED it. lol

Anyways, that’s enough X Factor. I really need X Factor to come to America. I know that Simon is working on it right now, but it’s taking forever! lol I’m tired of watching all of the good talent in the UK.

Music Tuesdays: Music & Performers To Look Out For

Music Tuesdays have got to be my favorite days to post because new music always brings me joy.

Let’s get it!

Bruno Mars

Recently, I have been reporting Bruno Mars’ Las Vegas arrest. However, it’s important for us not to forget just how talented this guy is. His single “Just The Way You Are,” has remained at the top of the charts, and now he has released “Grenade” as his second single. Take a listen!

Honestly, when I saw the title for this song, I immediately thought of Jersey Shore…And, I know that many of you know exactly what I am talking about. A mess…lol

Anyways, “Grenade” debuted at #81 on Billboard.ย  I’m sure that it will climb the Top 100 Hits list and fast. I like it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Katharine McPhee

Unlike Bruno, Katharine McPhee, a former runner up on American Idol, hasn’t been having as much success with her career. After American Idol, she scored a hit single with “Love Story,” but gradually disappeared from the limelight after her album didn’t perform well.

Nonetheless, Katharine is back with a new song and music video. The song is called “Say Goodbye” and is absolutely beautiful.

This is definitely a more mature sound from her that I’m really starting to appreciate. I didn’t like Katharine McPhee when she was on Idol, especially after she beat out Chris Daughtry. However, Daughtry has had much success with his band since the show, and there’s room for another former contestant in the music biz.

Katharine actually has been performing “Say Goodbye” for over a year even though the music video was only recently posted on YouTube . Here is one of her live performances on The Wendy Williams Show in March.

What do you think?

**Speaking of live performances, X Factor has officially started in the UK. There has already been an elimination of two performers from the Top 12.

Rebecca Ferguson

I must say that the UK definitely does have talent. Oneย  of my favorite contestants on the show is Rebecca Ferguson. She is a mother of two, who had almost no confidence when she auditioned for X Factor. Each time Rebecca performs, however, she raises her head a little bit higher, and it’s great to watch.

Last week she delivered this performance of “Tear Drops”.

Rebecca’s such a diva, and doesn’t even realize her potential. I love it! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cher Lloyd

As for my next favorite X Factor contestant, I have to say that I like Cher Lloyd. She had an incredible audition, singing the Keri Hilson version of “Turn My Swag On.” Yet, since her audition, Cher has been cracking some under the pressure from the show.

On the debut show of X Factor’s Top 12, Cher performed this number below.

This definitely wasn’t her best vocal performance. With that said, I like the attitude. Attitude is something that you can’t teach. And, let’s face it. A large percentage of what it takes to become a Popstar relies on attitude. ๐Ÿ˜‰

**Look out for next week’s Music Tuesday and share this post with your friends!

Who has the X Factor?

Every day when I listen to the radio, I think to myself, “Hmmm….who is this talentless talent singing, rapping, or wtv?” Then, the beat gets me hooked and I end up downloading songs. Sadness, I know. BUT, when a show like the UK’s X Factor airs, a small light of hope reignites in my mind, and the music industry doesn’t seem so disappointing.

Though many people already know his name, Danyl Johnson is still considered a nobody, except to his truest fans, who have followedย  him since his run on last season’s X Factor. Up against what I think were some outstanding competitors, Danyl shown above the rest. Unfortunately, Danyl’s seemingly cocky attitude on stage caused UK audiences to put him on popularity probation. Throughout X Factor, British tabloids had numerous field days bashing Danyl’s character, causing Danyl to lose both fans and votes. Personally, I like a cocky attitude as long as you can back it up, and had Danyl been on a show like American Idol, he would have definitely won. With that said, I am not entirely knocking the X Factor winner Joe McElderry. Ol’ Joey boy was good, adorable, and wholesome.

Nonetheless, now that X Factor is over, I feel the need to re-promote Danyl as the star that he is.ย  Just look at these few clips of him on X Factor. I agree with Simon Cowell’s comment in the first video. Danyl’s audition is the best first audition there has been on any of these generic competitive singing shows, and for that very reason should be seen by everyone. I can’t deny talented people, and Danyl is talented. He’s got the X factor.

Get it!

p.s. I kind of prefer X Factor’s supportive first audition approach compared to American Idol’s awkward “Let me stand in front of Randy Jackson as he puts a sheet of paper in front of his face in a failed attempt to hide his blatant laughter at my efforts….” LOL That’s why I’m ecstatic that we will be seeing X Factor stateside very soon. Woot Woot!

Also, check out his single from last year. At the moment, it’s growing on me, but hopefully you will enjoy it. Maybe if Cowell would stop playing and just give the boy a real record deal despite his fourth place finishing, I would have more exciting Danyl news to blog about….
