Music Tuesdays: Work More Still Poor

Waddup docs!

I just found out that my new job will have me working ungodly hours for the next few months, and I’m not even making the big bucks yet.

I guess I should be thankful that I’m not like this guy….

These hard times remind me of this Kanye West single….

Okay, that’s song is a little depressing. I guess maybe I should lighten the mood. Whenever I’m feeling down about the office, I’ll just remember this…

I better WORK! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Music Tuesdays: When Did Ne-Yo Get An Album?

Good morning boys and girls! Guess who’s baaaaaaack. lol I know I’ve been MIA for nearly two weeks, and I don’t really have an excuse other than Thanksgiving itis and a little common cold. Nonetheless, I am back, and see no point in wasting time with my jabbering. So, let’s get it!

Last week, two highly anticipated albums were released – Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy received rave reviews from both critics and West fans.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Pink Friday. Although critics were generous with their comments, I haven’t been hearing the same level of approval coming from Minaj fans.

Personally, I like Nicki as a cameo artist more than as a solo act. With that said, she brings her own style to the game, and has shut up anyone, who said that her album would not sell. Pink Friday debuted at numero dos right behind Kanye, who of course took the top spot. I guess getting booed at the Thanksgiving Macy’s parade is only a sign that you will continue to be very successful.

As for a brief update on Rihanna’s album Loud, Loud debuted at number 3 on Billboard the week before Kanye and Nicki graced the chart.ย  I continue to love Rihanna’s songs, but it’s pretty clear that this starlet is lacking in the fan department. With all of the number one singles that she has had, you would think that the girl would’ve had at least one album debut at numero uno, but no. Maybe after a few more decent AMA performances she will clinch the top spot. Hopefully, that will probably never happen.

p.s. When did Ne-Yo get a new album?! I love Ne-Yo, but definitely missed the memo on Libra Scale. Apparently, it was released the same week as Kanye and Nicki’s albums. Why would he do that? To me, that was not the best strategy. Slash, where was the marketing campaign for his album? I am all around confused, and unfortunately am not that interested to go take a listen. Oh well…

Anyways, enough with this old news. Let’s get to the NEW stuff!

I was listening to the radio last night, and I have to admit that I like another song featuring Rihanna called “Fly.” Go figure…If anything, the girl knows how to get on a good song because we all know she’s not writing not a single lyric. “Fly” has been out for a couple of weeks now, and it will probably climb the charts soon. If you haven’t heard it, listen to it below!

What do you think? These inspirational upbeat songs are always a hit in the clubs. lol

Enrique Iglesias

Another song that is capturing my attention is Enrique Iglesias’ “Tonight” featuring Ludacris. There is no surprise that I like this song. There’s nothing particularly that special about it, but Enrique is hot and Luda is my favorite rapper. Not to mention, the beat is right on point, and will definitely be played in the clubs around the world.

Listen to “Tonight” now! ๐Ÿ™‚

Side note: Is it just me or does Enrique never age? He’s been looking the same for the past two decades…lol

Moving on…

Dirty Money

At first I thought that Diddy’s Dirty Money group was going to come and go just like the rest of his acts. So, I’m actually surprised that they have just released another single. “Coming Home”ย  is looking to be another hit for the trio. I was a big fan of “Hello Good Morning,” and I must say that I really like “Coming Home” too.

The video also debuted on Vevo last week. Click here to watch it —> Coming Home – Dirty Money

I love that Diddy has money because his videos are always on point. With that said, his style is starting to remind me of his early 90s days…Still luv him though.

p.s. Although I love Diddy, I can’t ignore the fact that J. Cole was actually the one to write “Coming Home.” Good job Mr. Cole. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hot Mess Mondays: Not Everything Is A Publicity Stunt

Good morning everyone! As always, I hope that everyone had a splendid weekend. Now, let’s get straight to the countdown!

1) T.I. for his newest jail sentence.

Just last Friday, T.I. found out that he would be serving 11 more months in prison for drug possession back in September. Yikes! Honestly, I don’t know what to say about this one. T.I. has only been out of jail for his last crimes for a few months. Such a mess…

p.s. Even though T.I. was absolutely stupid in this matter, I think it’s also a hot mess that he gets harsher punishments than some other celebrities who have made this countdown in the past.

Here is a comment I found about the T.I. situation.

“Lindsay Lohan violated probation also and she isn’t in jail, she is in rehab. What is wrong with this picture? Paris Hilton gets busted all of the time with drugs, isn’t she still on probation? Why isn’t anyone asking these questions?” – Anonymous

Anonymous, those are my thoughts exactly. At least T.I. showed up for his court date unlike Ms. Lohan, who ended up missing hers because she was out of the country. Just sayin…

2) The American public for thinking everything is a publicity stunt.

If you’ve been following the T.I. story, then you know that last week the rapper also made headlines for helping a suicidal man off the roof of a building in Atlanta. After T.I. convinced the man not to end his life, people claimed that it was all a publicity stunt to make T.I. look good before his court appearance. Honestly, I just think that people can be so ridiculous sometimes. No one is going to stage a suicide attempt for good publicity. Also, have we really lost THAT much faith in one another? Sometimes people are genuinely good people, and I believe that about T.I. despite his criminal history.

3) Bishop Eddie Long and his church for just being an overall mess.

Apparently, the bishop is not the only one causing New Birth Missionary trouble.ย  Last week, reported that a woman by the name of Tama Colson was suing the church for failing to address her claims that Michael Caesar, a prominent church staff member, showed her inappropriate pictures of his penis as well as had other inappropriate interactions with women in the church. Smh…No words.

4) Kanye West for always complaining.

It looks like Kanye’s a little annoyed that people don’t like his latest artwork for his album cover. The cover depicts a naked Kanye being straddled by some white “phoenix.” Although, I can understand Kanye’s frustrations as an artist wanting to freely express himself,ย  I can also understand why some companies might think the picture is a little risky to be put on shelves…Anyways, wherever there is Kanye West, there is always controversy, and I’m a little tired of it.

5) The Situation for being a terrible situation.

The Situation and Pauly D

Jersey Shore never fails to entertain me, but last week I was completely disgusted my Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s behavior on the show. Twice, Mike failed at being a wingman for his friend Pauly D, who happens to be my fave on the show. Not to mention, Mike has proven time and time again that he is much too aggressive with the opposite sex. Not every woman wants you Mike. Get off and get over it!

With that said, I like The Situation. lol

Wild Wednesdays: Reggie Gives Back and Kanye Runs More

Originally, I intended to report something a little more juicy. With that said, when I opened my Inbox this morning, I was sad to see a post from Hip-Hop Wired about Reggie Bush’s decision to forfeit the Heisman Trophy. Those of you, who have been following Reggie’s career since his college days, know that Reggie was accused of accepting money from California marketing agents while still playing for USC, which is 100% against NCAA rules. Even though Reggie is willingly giving up the trophy after years of being under investigation, everyone knows that he’ll always be considered a Heisman winner.

Side Note: This story saddens me because if Reggie did take outside money while playing for USC, it was probably due to pressures from his family. A lot of athletes/ college students in general do not come from the wealthiest of situations. I’m not trying to justify Reggie’s decision (if he’s “guilty”). All I’m saying is that I understand.

Moving On…

In order to keep this post from being too depressing, it’s probably best that I post something wacky too. Who better to talk about than Kanye West, right? Pop Eater reports that Kanye West will be releasing a 40 minute music video for his song “Runaway.” I posted “Runaway” yesterday as a part of Music Tuesdays, and I haven’t listened to it since then. Honestly, I think it’s ridiculous that Kanye has plans for such a long video, especially after his minute long video for “Power.” I can’t hate on Kanye for trying something different. All I can say is that it better be on the level of Michael Jackson’s video features. Because only MJ was able to make me sit through a music video miniseries back in the day.

Oh Kanye. Like Gaga, I’m starting to think that he needs a hug too…

What do you think about Kanye’s plans? Leave a comment!

Music Tuesdays: Time for Rihanna to Run Away

Last week, I decided that Music Tuesdays would have more structure. Then, over the past few days, I thought about my personality. Since my personality has no structure, there’s no reason that Music Tuesdays should either. I like all different types of music, and on any given day, a plethora of sounds will move me. With that said, let’s get started with our Music Tuesday shall we?

Willow Smith

Unless you have been hiding under a rock recently, you probably know that Willow Smith has released a new song “Whip My Hair,” which is catching some strong YouTube buzz. Willow’s song was posted early last week, and already has over 2 million for one of the videos. Honestly, I have been listening to her song since its post. lol People are saying that she sounds like Rihanna, and I can kind of hear it. With that said, the girl can sing for a nine year old.

Here’s the song if you haven’t heard it yet.

What do you think? Is Willow too young to be having a music career? Raven Simone had one when she was a child, and she didn’t have any Lindsay Lohan problems later…Then again, as a friend pointed out to me, Raven was not trying to be Rihanna. The only thing allowing me to support Willow is the idea that Will and Jada will be in full control of her career.

Side note: Rihanna had a song called “Whipping My Hair,” which was released a while ago actually. Sadly, Willow’s song is WAY better. In case you missed Rihanna’s song too, here it is.

Did you guys hear Rihanna on Sunday’s VMAs??? Atrocity.

Time for Rihanna to be phased out of the music scene. Schmanks! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Moving On…

Kanye West

Willow is not the only one with a new song out. Kanye West debuted his song “Runaway” at Sunday’s VMAs. After his performance, there seemed to be mixed feelings about the song. I’ve listened to “Runaway” a few times, and I don’t know if I like it just yet. He kind of just sounds like a drunk screaming on the corner…BUT, I think that I’ll eventually start to like it. Maybe…lol

What do you think?

As I stated before my personality has no “structure,” meaning it’s totally random the things that I do and like. For that reason, another singer that I have been listening to for a while now is Kerli. Kerli is the complete opposite of both Willow and Kanye. She has a gothic Pop sound that is all her own, and a personal style that even Gaga might want to try out. Kerli’s from Estonia and has been around for years. I first learned about her when I was looking at choreography done by Sonya Tayeh from Fox’s hit show “So You Think You Can Dance.” Anyways, there are two songs that I want you guys to check out by Kerli. The first is called “Tea Party” and the second is “Walking On Air.”ย  The video for “Tea Party” was released back in March. “Walking On Air,” however, is an older song from over a year ago.

Despite Kerli being an established artist in her own right, I know that a lot of people still haven’t caught onto her. Hopefully, you guys enjoy her sound. Go to Youtube to see more of her videos, and please, no Gaga comparisons. They’re two completely different artists with enough talent between the both of them to entertain us all.ย  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hot Mess Mondays: Celebrity Stupidity

Now, it’s time for the real news of the day. There were a lot of celebrities fighting for the Hot Mess crown last week, but not everyone can make my top 5 Hot Mess list, and only one can win the Hot Mess title. Let’s see, who’s been messing up lately.

1) German Pop singer Nadja Benaissa for giving her boyfriend HIV.

This story still irks me. How can a girl, who has known her HIV status for years, just have unprotected sex with her boyfriend??? I wonder how many other lucky men have contracted the virus from her…This is why Nadja is the Hot Mess queen.

2) T.I. for getting arrested again.

I reported T.I. and Tiny’s arrest the morning after it happened. Celebrities really don’t get it sometimes. I don’t want T.I. to go back to jail, but if he’s that stupid, then maybe he deserves to. With that said, weed should be legalized. Just sayin…And, I don’t even smoke.

3) Ne-Yo for talking about T.I.’s arrest.

Last week, the Associated Press reported Ne-Yo’s opinions on T.I.’s recent arrest. According to the article, Ne-Yo argued that T.I. has made many “poor choices” and has had “enough chances.” Although Ne-Yo claims that he was misquoted, I’d say he’s a hot mess for even commenting on the matter. Keep it to yourself Ne-Yo.

p.s. Didn’t Ne-Yo also get arrested once before?

4) Kanye West for apologizing to Taylor Swift again for last year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Don’t worry Kanye. We all know that you can be an ass. Honestly, even though people tried to act upset over the incident last year, no one actually cared. You just made the VMA’s that much for memorable and comedic with your comments. I’m sure MTV appreciated it as well…lol

5) Paris Hilton for telling authorities that she thought her coke was gum.

This hot messness was reported right after Paris’ arrest. Come on Paris… You knew good and well that the little baggie of cocaine falling out of your purse was not gum…Stupid.

**And, that wraps up all of this Monday’s Hot Mess winners. Stay tuned for next Monday’s list. I’m sure I’ll have plenty of celebs to choose from by Friday. ๐Ÿ™‚

Music Tuesdays: Bieberโ€™s Street Cred

It’s official. Justin Bieber has more street cred than a lot of people right now, including me. Actually, I might not have ever had street cred…lol

Anyways… reports that the little sunspot has released a remix to his “Runaway Love.” The original “Runaway Love” appeared on Bieber’s My World 2.0 album. The remix features Wu-tang Clan’s Raekwon and Kanye West.

Listen to the song now! ——> Runaway Love

Is it a winner? Fans seem to be split. Leave a comment!
