Hot Mess Mondays: Hollywood Bust

Usually, I am pretty kind to Hollywood and its failures….Actually, not really. lmao Let’s get it!

1) Cowboys and Aliens for not being out of this world.

A friend and I went to go check out the latest summer blockbuster on Saturday. Needless to say, Cowboys and Aliens had us cracking up in our seats, but not for the right reasons…Jam packed with a lackluster plot and random fight sequences, Cowboys and Aliens turned out to be a complete waste of money and time. The only saving graces for this movie were its stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. I can watch Daniel Craig kick butt any day. As for Ford, well his character was such an “ass” throughout the entire movie that you couldn’t help, but to laugh. Unfortunately, neither Craig nor Ford were enough to save this flick from being a complete disaster. However, I will say that the aliens genetics were pretty entertaining. They basically have these weird slimy hands that extend from their torso area. Kind of reminded me of E.T.’s nasty stick fingers with the glowing bulb…lol Anyways, if you were planning on seeing this movie, please don’t unless you want to waste a good 13 bucks. Just think about it. 13 bucks can buy you about five 99 cent cheeseburgers and 16 apple pies from McDonalds. I’d rather die from obesity than sit through this movie again…. Okay, not really. lmao 😉

2) Justin Timberlake for not having a clue.

I heart JT so much, but honestly, I am tired of seeing ol’ boy pursue a mediocre acting career. Justin is just not a leading man in my eyes as much as he wants to be. He still looks a little too boyish and sounds like a teenager. Granted, he was decent in The Social Network. But, did we really need Friends With Benefits? Did we?  I don’t think I’m the only one wanting JT to take his behind back to the studio. I’ve already said that once, and I’ll keep saying it over and over again.

By the way, here’s the trailer for JT’s latest movie below.

Actually, the concept has a lot of potential. We’ll see….sigh….

3) Lauryn Hill for having more babies.

Now, I’m all for little black babies running around this world.  With that said, I’d rather have Lauryn Hill get herself together than have another child. Better yet, I would just like her to stop having kids…lol She pops out babies like it’s a game. Who knows…Maybe these kids will turn out like the Jacksons?

4) Brad and Angelina Jolie for considering retirement.

These rumors are making me so so sad. Brad and Angelina are two of my favorite actors. Honestly, Brad Pitt is beyond underrated as an actor. When I hear his name, I know that the movie is going to be good. However, I  also know that Brad is approaching 50 (yeah, he’s that old….), and has a whole lot of kids to raise. Sigh….as long as Johnny Depp continues to act, I guess I’ll be okay.

p.s. Now, I want to watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith. 🙂

Film Fridays: Saw Your Heart Out

Today has been absolutely hectic. However, I have 30 more minutes until it is officially Saturday, just enough time to squeeze in that Friday post that was notably missing….lol

In case you didn’t know, the last installment of the Saw franchise, Saw 3D, is out in theaters. I saw (no pun intended) the movie last night, and must say that it was absolutely hilarious. My friend and I were definitely jumpy throughout the entire movie. There’s nothing better than pieces of flesh flying at your face. As for the actors, they could probably use a few more lessons. But, let’s be real. People go to see scary movies for the gore and bad acting. Right?

Personally, I don’t think that any of the other Saw films could ever compare to the first one. With that said, if you’re looking for the perfect Halloween feature, then Saw 3D might be your best bet. And, if Saw 3D doesn’t sound appealing, you can always take your chances with Paranormal Activity 2 or Jackass. The choice is yours. 😉

p.s. Happy Halloween this weekend folks!!!

UPDATE: Wall Street 2 Money Never Sleeps

So, I totally forgot that this weekend Wall Street 2:  Money Never Sleeps will be out in theaters. The movie stars Michael Douglas and Shia Labeouf. It was also produced by my former employer Pressman Films. A lot of people are excited about this film. Apparently, it’s already expected to do well and gross more than $20 million at the box office. Good luck everyone involved with the movie!

p.s. Let’s all say a special prayer for Michael Douglas and his family. Not too long ago, Michael announced on The Late Show with David Letterman that he had stage 4 throat cancer. He is said to have an 80% survival rate due to the fact that the cancer is concentrated in his neck and has not spread to his other organs. Hopefully, Michael will be able to beat it. 🙂

Side note: A picture will come soon with this post.  Bear with me. lol 😉

Film Fridays: Mark Your Calendars for The Social Network

Well folks, another week has ended.

Ever since moving to LA, I feel like my life has completely flown by. Where did my college years and summer go?! Lol Anyways, I blame movies for allowing my summer to go by so quickly. With a new movie release every weekend, my sunny weekends all blurred into one giant movie fest.

Anyways, there’s not too much being released this particular weekend, but one movie  to look out for in the near future is The Social Network, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake, Brenda Song, Rooney Mara, and a few other younger stars.

The Social Network has been getting a lot of Hollywood buzz. People are very excited to see this film in Tinseltown. With that said, now that I’m living in LA, the very place where movies are made, I can no longer tell what the buzz is across the rest of the country. However, I do know that everyone is practically a Facebook user. And, with all of the controversies surrounding Mark Zuckerberg, the social networking site’s founder, who wouldn’t want to see the story of about how Facebook came to be?

p.s. Apparently, Mr. Zuckerberg is not too thrilled about having a movie based off of his life in theaters. What’s wrong Zuckerberg? Afraid we all might learn the truth? lol

The Social Network comes out October 1st. 🙂

Side Note: The Town, Easy A, Machete, The American, and even Inception should all still be playing in a theater near you. 😉

Thou Shalt Kill

Once again, Hollywood’s little worker bees have been slavin away to produce the best honey – in this case a string of competing assassin/secret agent themed movies scheduled to be released this summer. Personally, after seeing Mr. and Mrs. Smith a few years back, I am in favor of these types of movies as long as they are done well. However, with Killers, Knight and Day, and Salt all being released back to back, I don’t know if I can take all of the loud shooting. It’s already killing me! **pun intended lol

Anyways, Hollywood’s little worker bees are trying to pull a fast one on us mere peasants. Deep down the little buzzers know that during the summer, everyone sees almost every movie. Therefore, the repetitive theme for this summer doesn’t seem to be an issue (at least not to them). Though I am not upset with these similarly themed films, I will say that there is no way that I will be paying to watch all of them. At least one of the suckers is going to be cut from my viewing lineup. So, now my question is “Which one?”

Hmmm…Maybe breaking down the movies will help. Let’s see…

Starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl, Killers is about a woman, who while on vacation, falls in love with a man, only to find out later that he is a CIA agent. Some original stuff, huh? lol I do like the advertisement though. Unfortunately, neither Kutcher nor Heigl do it for me. Kutcher can be funny sometimes, but Heigl….Her role on Grey’s Anatomy made me want to gag. She was ALWAYS so whiny and psycho lol

Here’s the trailer –

What do you think?

Knight and Day

Alright, I am honestly just excited to see Tom Cruise have some shine. After his whole  couch jumping incident on Oprah and Brooke Shields postpartum commentary, even I was turned off for a minute, but now I really really miss  I mean, who doesn’t love Tom Cruise? Look at him. He’s screaming bad-ass in the pic above. Some of those other stars I named last time need to take some lessons….

Knight and Day is about a secret agent (Cruise), who goes on a blind date with an unassuming young lady (Diaz) before taking her on one crazy adventure. Check the trailer!

I’m pretty sure that I will see this movie. I’ll take Cruise and Diaz over Kutcher and Heigl anytime!

Now, we’re talking. Angelina Jolie pretty much was born to play an assassin.  At first I was a little hesitant about her in this role. I just don’t want her to be type-cast since she’s already been an assassin twice in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Wanted. But hey, if she can continue to do these roles and bring in the box-office bucks, then more power to her.

In Salt, Jolie will play  Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who must clear her name after being accused of working for the Soviet Union. Check the trailer!

And to think that this role was originally intended for Tom Cruise…

This summer should be pretty interesting to say the very least. After weighing the options, Knight and Day and Salt are looking like the clear assassin winners of my summer. Regardless of what I want to see, however,  I’m sure people will be sticking to Hollywood’s honey all summer long.  We’ll see what happens come June….
