Takers Takes In More Than Expected

Although it’s technically Hot Mess Monday, I cannot deny you all the results for this weekend’s box office. With a budget around $20-30 million, Takers took in an estimated $21 million this weekend. That is great for a low budget film! Apparently, Takers was expected to draw in somewhere close to $9 million. I don’t know why anyone would estimate a number that low. Just look at the cast. Anyone could have guessed that girls were going to see this movie. Anyways, topping Takers this weekend was The Last Exorcism with $21.3 million.

Congrats Morris Chesnut, T.I., Chris Brown, William Packer (Rainforest Films), and everyone else, who helped to produce the film! We all know that being “a person of color,” making a color-filled movie,  is always a struggle in Hollywood.

Update:  Originally, I reported that Michael Ealy served as producer on this film as well. According to imdb.com, however, that does not appear to be the case. He still did a good job acting. 🙂

About binabona
Hello! My name's Bina. I tried the whole blogging game a while back when I wanted to do film reviews, but now I realize that blogging can be so much more than that. I love giving an opinion, and discovering new things to write about. I hope that people enjoy reading the topics that I write about. That's all I really want. :-)
